Russia is the largest country of the world, situated in the Northern hemisphere, covers the largest territory of Eurasia. Russia borders with eighteen countries.

The capital is Moscow. The “second capital” of Russia is considered
to be St. Petersburg. In Russia, as of 2024, there are 16 cities with a population of more than a million people: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Chelyabinsk, Samara, Ufa, Rostov-na-Donu, Krasnodar, Omsk, Voronezh, Perm, Volgograd.
There are 1,030 cities, 2,153 urban-type settlements and an innumerable number of villages in the country.

The population of Russia according to the 2023 census was 146.4 million people, most of whom live in the European part, only 20% of the total population lives outside the Urals.
There are 89 subjects in Russia: 3 cities of federal significance, 24 republics, 9 territories, 48 regions (among which one is an enclave — the territory of a state, surrounded on all sides by the territory of another state. In Russia, this is the Kaliningrad Region), 1 autonomous region and 4 autonomous districts.

Russia is one of the most multinational countries in the world, it has about 160 nationalities.
Religions: Orthodoxy, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and some other religions.
Russian language is an official language of the country.

The Standard (Flag) of the Russian Federation is a square cloth with three equal horizontal stripes: the uppermost is white, the middle is blue and the bottom is red.
